Barbados- Day One

Making friends everywhere I go

Today was an all day travel day. You know get up at 3:30 am kind of travel day and now at 11:22 pm, lie in bed In Barbados listening to my own little orchestra of tree crickets/katydids. Well, I did ask two posts ago “when did I stop listening to the strings.” Lol

All three flights went perfectly. We did sit on the runway in Dallas for about an hour as they were trying to get a bag off the plane. But we made all our connections.

While in Miami, the lady sitting next to me said, “I’m going to run to the bathroom. Implying “will you watch my things?” She goes off and I am envisioning all those airline announcements “do not leave your bags unattended, etc.”. But she came back and we became friends.

She is native to Barbados and had been in Boston. She told me today in Barbados was the “Barbados Hill challenge.” She told me all about it and showed me photos. She told me several places to go see as did the young man sitting across from us. His shirt said “antisocial.” So after we had talked about 20 minutes, I said does that shirt have a different meaning? Or do you think you are antisocial? He kind of laughed and said, no. There was no other meaning.

We then flew Miami to Barbados. Customs or entry was very smooth and easy. As we were waiting for our bags, this same lady greeted us again and then two minutes later introduced us to the Minister of Tourism for Barbados. He talked to us for awhile. It was all very cool.

We are all checked in now and I’ll get more photos tomorrow. But for now, I will sleep with my night orchestra!
