T minus 1 day until we are on an airplane to a tropical island. This is the annual Hunter Douglas trip that we will be enjoying. We’ve never been to Barbados before and we are looking forward to it.

Leading up to this trip, this is a bit of what we’ve been up to. Physical fitness wise – Patty has a date for a hip replacement surgery – July 6th. This will be life changing as for the past year and a half to two years it has hurt to just walk. I’m thankful this is my last airplane trip before I have a new hip and no pain. My “physical fitness” journey will resume as I heal and I can move without pain. I will document that again. The worse part of this is having to stop the shot I take for RA. I have to stop it 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after surgery. So praying for the RA pain to stay away while we fix the hip.
My “spiritual fitness” is good. We run our Bible fellowship here in Grand Junction where many are doing the wonderful works of God. I’ve also attended Community Bible Study all year where we have been working through all the Psalms. And then of course the Bible app studies with so many of you. God is good.
My “mental fitness” has been challenged at times as people who are not involved in my life at all, but over me in some capacity make statements about my life that are not true. When their style of leading doesn’t change from the 4 people before them and they wonder why they aren’t seeing changes. I believe there is a definition for insanity that fits here. “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.” Thankful for the strong “spiritual fitness” mentioned above because it is God that knows my heart and it is God that I serve, not man.
In our lives, Jessica and Matt will be married in June 2026. Joe and McKenzie (see last post) got married August 31, 2025 and are now learning the business here in Grand Junction. And Ben just “soared” through his interview with Sky West Airlines and now he waits to see if he is offered a class date.
A vacation is well deserved and as we will miss Jessica and Matt this year, the rest of us will use this week to revive, refresh, and renew. I’ll keep you updated. I’m not sure how many “excursions” I’ll go on, because “hip” but I will enjoy the ocean view and the all inclusive resort and meeting other Hunter Douglas dealers.
