It’s my half way point day. We PLANNED a day “off” so to speak before we travel to our next destination. 1/2 of our group are continuing on after Italy so laundry was a need today. Benjamin and I called for a Tuk Tuk to take us to the self-serve laundry. My Tuk-Tuk driver was the exact same Tuk-Tuk driver Laura and I had 5 years ago. There was a “change” machine there for us to put coins in the washers/dryers. It took a while for us to figure out that they were actually tokens not Euros and the 12 we had left over at the end were going to do us no good. Oh well. We left them for the next person.

We got everyone’s laundry done and called for Giovanni to come pick us up and take us back to the hotel and then we headed to lunch. Right now in Pizzo (until June) it is “slow” season. So we went to a place that we saw this great menu on line, but when we got there, the Italian speaking man basically said, we have “pasta” or we have “pasta” or we have “pasta.” It’s low season. So guess what we had?

After lunch we headed to the rooftop terrace of our hotel to play some cards. Dave’s family plays a game called Solo and we all enjoy playing it together. Well the hotel right next to us is “renovating.” And the noise was so loud, we decided to take our party to Joe’s room. He has a nice balcony overseeing the sea and when the raindrops started to lightly fall, we could just push a button and the awning kept us dry.

We stayed here until 6:30 p.m. at which time we headed back to the rooftop terrace for an Apertivo. The owners of the Piccolo Grand Hotel were in the past couple of days and rather “horrified” with the construction noise next door. So they asked the hotel Staff to set up an Apertivo for us tonight because it was our last night here as an apology for the noise and a thank you for staying with them.

After this we headed to dinner – eat, eat, eat, eat…. We went back to the place that they all went to last night. Everyone was a little more tired tonight, so it was a bit quieter. We ate our food and drank our drinks and headed back to our rooms for the night. Tomorrow we head to a new destination in Calabria.
