The Deters’ Family Ancestry Adventure in Southern Italy – Friday 5/24

One thing we have learned from traveling together as a Family is to NOT have every single day scheduled. Today our first “adventure” would be going out on a boat to fish, hopefully see dolphins, and swim. And that was at 4:00 p.m.

However, the Hotel staff told us about their “sister” property down on the beach. The Piccolo Hotel Beach Club. They arranged a ride for us and told us we could eat lunch down there and catch our ride to our 4:00 p.m. boat ride from there. So this is what we did – together. But somehow it felt like we “chose” to do this together as opposed to we had to wake up to another “scheduled” excursion. In the end, we “chose” to be together. 🙂 We were at least able to eat breakfast at 9:00 a.m. instead of 8:00 a.m. so it felt like we slept in.

We spent our day at the Beach Club Escape and ate and drank and played cards (Solo) and just enjoyed being together.

At 4:00 p.m. we met Dominico and a driver from the boat rental company and headed to our boat. Joe, Dave, Ben, and I tried our hand at fishing, but we did not catch anything. It was an absolutely beautiful day to be out boating on the Tyrrhenian Sea. We fished, we ate, we looked for Dolphins, and we swam, and we enjoyed each others company.

We got back to our rooms just in time for another beautiful sunset. The rest of the family showered and headed out to dinner at 8:45 p.m. I just couldn’t do it. I’m finishing this post and then heading to bed. Tomorrow is another “free” day. I wonder what we will do “together.” 🙂
