Memories of my father come in waves. I was just 19, when he passed but omg do I remember how he loved the monkeys at the Oakland Zoo. I haven’t visited a zoo in a VERY long time, but today I went to the Omaha Zoo and just smiled as i watched the gorillas, remembering my dad and soaking in the moment with my daughter. Memories are cool!

If you had known me in my childhood and you had asked me, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I’d have replied with zero hesitation- “a mom.” It has been my most joyous occupation out of all of them. I wanted to be a great mom like my mom had been (and continues to be for me.)
