WE NEVER FULLY KNOW THE IMPACT OUR LIFE HAS ON OTHERS:

Do you believe in miracles? (I do.). As we remember November 20th, I am thankful always for two things on this date - Benjamin Deters' birth and Phyllis Fraga's life. You see, my mom came to Gunnison to be with me for Ben's birth. As it turns out we sent her to Jessica's Holiday Music program at school at 2:00 p.m. and Ben was born at 2:15 p.m. But the entire visit she was complaining of a horrible headache. She knew it was serious and did not want to be seen in Gunnison. So on her way out our door to go home to CA she said to me, "Good bye. I think I have a brain tumor." She doesn't remember saying that, but I will never forget. I was able to call my sisters immediately. She left my house on a Saturday, arrived in CA and had a friend take her immediately to Emergency (not home first - straight to the hospital.) By Sunday my sister, Teresa had flown out out be with her. Turns out it was an anuerysm - very, very serious. But she pulled through and today it is 20 years later. TWENTY!!! So I love you Benjamin Deters and I love you Phyllis J Fraga. . I thank God for you both daily!

At 18 most kids are looking forward to moving out of the home, exerting their independence, etc. At 18, I learned my father was dying and my mother was going back to the workforce as a 51 year old woman.

In Christianity there is one body, but there are many different functions. God has blessed us all differently. Some people are preachers, givers, singers, advice givers, prayer warriors, etc.

At times I’ve been tempted to wonder “what if” my life had been different. But I realized this weekend that the absolute greatest gift my dad gave me (he died in 1981) was his decision to call AA. And I fully comprehend my mothers part in that decision too.
